for 6 days, from 11 to 16 May 2021, quand les fleurs nous sauvent offers unpublished experience to gallery 5 rue Jacques callot, Paris VI: everyone can indeed compose his own "bunch of art."

the artist philippe baumann has produced dozens of flowers for the occasion, in mixed techniques, associating his favorite medium - scotch - with collage, drawing, and oil or acrylic paint. On several walls, this artistic flora will be exhibited, like a visit to a florist, everyone can recompose according to their tastes into an arty bouquet, to keep for themselves or to offer. on the occasion very close to Mother's Day .

the flowers will be sold individually, at prices of € 150, € 250 or € 350 , and will be assembled by the curators, m uriel fagnoni and julia gai , according to a protocol defined by the artist, on a previously signed paper support by him.

the creation of this " bouquets counter " is also an opportunity to exhibit other recent works such as older works by this artist with such a particular technique.

philippe baumann, a graduate of the national school of fine arts in paris, likes to say that he wakes up one day from a nap, his arm "printed" with the liberation page on which he had fallen asleep. Years of daily work will follow on removing ink from newspaper pages using tape, to recompose images of glued and shiny fragments, or scratched and matte, revealing the white reserve of torn elements.

polarized by all printing techniques , he then mixes his own reprinted elements with new taped gestures, recreating unique pieces on the same starting base, or trying his hand at printing with glue or painting with oil on cellophane paper.

the paper, all the papers, sometimes even improbable, are used as supports, and he protests that we want to sanctify this material and consider it as a noble material. for philippe baumann the paper lives, yellows, gets stained, also tears, and this contributes to its beauty and its mystery. in the exhibition, will thus be hung, next to framed works, papers to tape or even to cut out.

finally, in this intimate and daily relationship with the press, the artist obviously gives words a place of choice in his works, and writes in an attempt to give these few lines to perceive his approach:

the day was paper

the night was ink

my arm tattooed with RELEASE ink

the visits will take place in full compliance with the sanitary measures in force on the date of the opening, and in any case, a mask and hydro-alcoholic gel will be compulsory at the entrance.
