"thank you for the roses" said academician jean d'ormesson, before adding ... "thank you for the thorns". whether they were “rose” or “thorn”, he celebrated each of life's events as a step forward in his quest for happiness.

it is this antiphon, he reports that she lit her way of life, which deeply resonates with muriel fagnoni  and julia gai, the two curators of quand les fleurs nous sauvent when they hear it in full containment in spring 2020.
the idea of the event thank you for the roses, thank you for the thorns is born from the words of the man of letters, and with it, the challenge of attacking "the queen of flowers", adored or despised, precious or flower mass, and obviously overused. it is its “thorns” that will make this exploration possible and fascinating. quand les fleurs nous sauvent thus offers an anthology of works by some twenty artists, contemporary or old, who echo this ambivalence.

thank you for the roses, thank you for the thorns is thus an opportunity for the artists presented, to offer their vision of this flower through a variety of mediums - painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, or textiles.
