born in 1930 in neuilly-sur-seine and died in san diego in 2002, niki de saint phalle is a self-taught artist who dedicates herself to art after hospitalization in nice. her work, resolutely feminist and committed, is made up of performance paintings, sculptures and films. his artistic practice is influenced by the work of antoni gaudí and jackson pollock. she joined the group of new realists through her second husband, jean tinguely. in 2000, she received the praemium imperiale prize, in the sculpture section. his work has been the subject of numerous retrospectives, notably at the grand palace in 2014, or even in bilbao in 2015.

begun towards the end of the 1960s, his "babes", sculptures or drawings, represent  women with assertive curves and marked feminine attributes. these  are the embodiment  of  femininity. from the 70s, his "girls"  are going  covered with decorative surfaces, in festive poses,  inviting to the party.
